19th Annual Change Your World Celebration

The annual Change Your World Celebration is the signature fundraiser for the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights. Proceeds from this important evening guarantee our program success each year and advance our statewide mission of promoting respect for human dignity and diversity through education.
The 2022 Celebration theme is “The Art of Human Rights” with cohosts Dan Prinzing, Wassmuth Center Executive Director, and Rocci Johnson, community “powerhouse of acceptance.”
The relation between human rights and the arts is not obvious. Human rights are commonly understood as a set of internationally agreed norms and standards, covering economic, social, cultural, civil and political rights. But human rights are more than a legal instrument – they are a powerful moral notion associated with the idea human dignity and, as such, are capable of galvanizing artists and the common citizen alike. (Rovisco & Musiyiwa, “The role of the arts in promoting a culture of human rights”)
This year we feature Idaho artists, musicians, and dancers as each uses their creative expression in a commitment to human rights. Special segments include Reham Aarti (mosaic artist), Ken McCall (metal artist), Benjamin Victor (sculptor), Filip Vogelpohl (glass artist) and Open Arms Dance Project.
