EchoX’s “How to Look Cool Online: Unbound by Templates” DIGITIZE HTML Web Development Workshop

This three-day, virtual (and paid!) workshop aims to help young creatives learn the basics of web development. Students will learn some basic HTML to code their own website as a personalized platform for your ideas/stories/art to tell a story. 

  • Dates: July 29, August 5, August 12 
  • Eligibility: High-school students in WA, OR, ID or AK
  • All three virtual meetings are required and students will be given an additional online space where they can support each other through the process. 
  • At the end of the workshop, students may enter their websites into a contest to win additional money. 

Disclaimer: This workshop is designed for beginners, so students with existing experience in web development may be too advanced for the curriculum.

Alaska 

Sitka Fine Arts Camp

Sitka Fine Arts Camp offers year-round arts programming for all ages. Flagship programs during the summer. Vibrant campus in the heart of Sitka, AK. 

  • Musical Theater Camp (July 10 –30)  
  • Musical Theater Camp is a 3-week pre-professional training program for young artists ready for the challenge of producing a professional musical theater show. Students work closely with professional artists and pick one of two tracks, the Acting Track or the Technical Theater Track.  
  • For students entering 9th grade for the 2023-24 school year – current sophomores in college. Dorm Student Tuition: $3000 includes $350 deposit.

Palmer Museum of History & Art 

The Palmer Museum of History and Art (PMHA) is a nonprofit, contracted with the City of Palmer to provide museum and visitor center services. Nestled inside two acres of downtown showcase garden, we offer visitor information services, curated historic displays, and exhibits that feature the talent of local artists.   

  • Youth Art Workshops (June 15 – July 9, 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm) 
  • The Palmer Museum is offering several FREE summer arts workshops for youth. Each class will have a specific art project that participants can complete on site during one session. They have several courses for younger children, and several for older. Spots are limited: sign up in advance to ensure your seat!

Idaho 

Boise Art Museum 

The Boise Art Museum mission is to a create visual arts experience that engage people and inspires learning through exceptional exhibitions, collections, and educational opportunities. 

  • BAM’s studio art programs encourage the creative abilities of all participants by offering experiences in a variety of art media. Campers will spend time with original artwork and make their own projects in the studios every day. All activities are inspired by BAM’s current exhibitions and instructed by professional Art Educators and Artists. Group sizes are small for individualized attention and safety. Pre-registration required.

Their programs and services continue to evolve to meet the needs of the communities, removing barriers to health, well-being, and economic mobility. 

  •  Summer STEAM (July 18 – August 11, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm) 
  • A 4-Week Summer Program for K-8 Students. 
  • Centro has provided educational summer programs for Latino youth in the community for decades. Their programs aim to supplement and reinforce what our youth learn in schools, while providing opportunities to explore new and exciting subjects. Oregon

Wild Diversity  

Wild Diversity is a nonprofit organization that aims to help create a personal connection to the outdoors for Black, Indigenous, all People of Color (BIPOC) & the LGBTQ2S+ communities, through outdoor adventures and education.  

  • Youth Summer Camp – Survivalist Week (BIPOC) (July 17-21, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm ) 
  • This week is designed to build your outdoors skills. It’s for youth who are excited about skill building and adventure. You will learn a wide range of topics like archery, wilderness survival, fishing, fire building, and navigation. You will get the opportunity to try out many activities and see what excites you the most.

Washington

Youth in Focus

Youth in Focus provides after-school, summer, and partner programs of Digital and Darkroom photography for teens aged 13-19 furthest from educational justice. Our program focuses on Social and Emotional Learning, 21st-century skill development, and courage and risk-taking through art. We offer free or donation-optional tuition and free bus passes to make our program accessible to all. 

  • Summer Camp 2023 (July 10 – August 4, 9:30am – 4:30pm)

한인생활상담소 Korean Community Service Center WA (KCSC)  

The Korean Community Service Center is a non-profit organization founded by volunteers in 1983. KCSC strives for the betterment of the Korean Community as a whole, as well as surrounding communities by providing community and social services for the Korean American population in the state of Washington. KCSC is committed to empowering educating and inspiring Korean American youth and families through counseling, education, and other services. KCSC provides bilingual and cultural services to Korean families. 

  • 2023 Youthkan Summer Camp registration is open! 
  • Join other Asian American high school students for A 5-day OVERNIGHT institute for high school youth to build a toolbox of skills incritical thinking, collective power, storytelling, identity development, and dialogue. You will build relationships across ethnicity and geography, and educate each other on community problems and their impacts on community health and well-being. 
  • 2023 Annual YouthKAN Summer Training Institute will be held on July 10-14, 2023 at Crane Island, Washington. Car and boat transportation will be provided from KCSC, 22727 Hwy 99, Edmonds, WA 98026.
