DIGITIZE Youth Fellowships

EchoX’s DIGITIZE Youth Fellowships are a paid, short-term opportunity for Washington high school students. This program is designed to support students in their self-expression on ethnic cultural identity while learning digital literacy skills. As part of this, we offer various fellowships for high school students to work directly with EchoX staff, gaining real world work experience in content strategy and communications.

Our youth fellowship program began in 2022. Since then, we’ve worked with Washington State high school students, helping them learn various digital skills that apply to areas beyond the non-profit space such as outreach, marketing, and team experience! Over the last three years, our students have created social media posts, strategised outreach approaches, recorded mini podcasts, and more!

We continue to create new opportunities and welcome questions, inquiries, or suggestions! To learn more, email us at digitize@echox.org.

Current Opportunities:

We are currently running two youth fellowship opportunities focused on creating and running social media campaigns.

Spring 2025: Social Media Outreach Fellowships

This spring, we are offering two Social Media Outreach Fellowships for Washington State high school students. Each fellow will help support EchoX and DIGITIZE as we grow. The students will learn various skills that will help them solidify a strong voice in their creation as well as further digital skills applicable to areas beyond the non-profit space such as team experience, marketing experience, and outreach experience. The fellowships will run from February 24 to April 13.

The selected students will attend eight virtual meetings with Kathryn Lam, our Communications Director, and produce a series of five social media pieces for publication on EchoX’s social media pages. Students will be compensated a total of two hundred dollars ($200.00) for attending all virtual work sessions and for completing all five social media deliverables on time.

DIGITIZE FELLOWSHIP

The DIGITIZE social media fellowship will concentrate on creating promotional material for DIGITIZE, including any of the seasonal programs we run like the “How to Look Cool Online” web development workshop. The fellow will make and plan five social media graphics under the mentorship of our Communications Director as well as learn valuable skills in managing a social media account.

STORY GATHERING FELLOWSHIP

The “Story Gathering” social media fellowship will concentrate on creating promotional material for the “Story Gathering” series. The fellow will make and plan five social media graphics under the mentorship of our Communications Director as well as learn valuable skills in running a targeting social media campaign.
