Summary: Since AKCHO was incorporated in 1977, we have provided a nexus for both professionals and volunteers in the heritage and historic preservation communities throughout King County.
Mission: AKCHO was established to encourage cooperation among historical organizations and to promote and encourage the study and preservation of the history and heritage of King County through member organizations, individual members, and the community they serve, and to support such preservation efforts through public awareness and understanding of legislative issues.

Our Objectives

  • To serve as a centralized resource for and connection between King County’s heritage organizations.
  • To promote professional standards for the heritage field.
  • To recognize and commend organizations and projects that reflect best practices or leadership within the heritage community of King County.
  • To advocate for and support public policy or movements that strengthen King County’s heritage and history at the county, municipal and state levels of government.
