Columbia Regional Pipe Band

Artists
Mission: The band’s goal is to present our music and the culture of the Scottish Highlands to our community in the best possible light, and to pass on its traditions to new practitioners, keeping the music alive for future generations. To that end we are a teaching organization, and one of our core commitments is the development of our younger members as musicians. We support non-profit community events as often as possible, in addition to appearances supporting other groups or businesses.

The band got its start as the Desert Thistle Pipe Band in eastern Washington’s tri-cities, Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland, in 1976. In recent years, our goals have centered on pipe band competition, and we have teamed with like-minded individuals from across the region; this “regional” characteristic resulted in the name change. Today’s Columbia Regional Pipe Band is made up of pipers and drummers from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana.
