Issamba Centre is a hub for People of African origin and of African descent, and a gateway for engagement with Africa and the Caribbean. We are the only African Descent Centre in BC, and are proud to be the first on Vancouver Island.
Our Black-Led, Black-Serving, Black-Oriented organization is an art & Cultural organization whose main mandate is to advance awareness and understanding of the richness and diversity of African culture and traditions through the promotion of a broad range of cultural, educational, and artistic activities, events, and programs. Since 2017, we have been advocating for the International Decade for People of African Descent.
Our goals:
