The origins of the Euskal Etxea (Basque Center) of Seattle take us back to 1993, when the first gatherings and meetings were held in Monroe at Tony and Shelly Diego’s place. After those first steps, the club officially incorporated in 1997, and joined NABO. The first elected president was Blas Uberuaga with Michelle Errecart as vice-president and secretary/treasurer Kristi Hill; serving as directors were Gonzalo Aranguren, Jean Escoz, Miren First, Claudette Mendiola, Virginia Goitia O’Neal, Nicholas Vroman, Debbie Coscorrosa, and John Etulain.
