Summary: A Seattle-based, competitive Irish Dance school with over 40 years of history in the Pacific Northwest.

The Tara Academy of Irish Dance was founded in 1994 by Julie Raney, TCRG, and Sara Raney Williams, TCRG, with the support and encouragement of their parents, Patrick and Barbara Raney.

From their first steps with one of Seattle’s original Irish dancing teachers, Jetta Commins, and on through their studies with Marie Gavaghan and Maureen Keane, ADCRG, the Raneys have always felt the highlight of Irish dancing to be family and community, and involvement in both has been the foundation of the school.

Over the years, the Tara Academy teachers and dancers have enjoyed competitive and performing success locally, regionally, and internationally. Each and every dancer at Tara Academy is valued for the contribution they make to the school through their participation, whatever level that is, and the whole Tara Academy staff strives to help each dancer grow and develop as dancers and as people.

The teachers, dancers and families of the Tara Academy are pleased and proud to be a part of the community of Irish dancing in the Pacific Northwest and the Western US Region.
