Temple B’nai Torah (TBT) offers an inclusive home for Reform Jews and interfaith families in a diverse and vibrant community with the mission of Building an Inclusive Sacred Community of Reform Jews. TBT provides a distinctly personal and welcoming environment to explore connections to Judaism through worship, study, and acts of loving-kindness via services, education programs for all ages, social action, holidays, personal celebrations, and more. Our members live all over the Puget Sound. What our members find unique about our community is our inclusiveness and diversity. The open-armed welcome and the strong connections forged between families are special to TBT.
We are a congregation of over 400 families, while still maintaining the intimacy of a smaller congregation – one that shares the special events of our members and supports each other through more difficult times. Our clergy is ever-present to provide needed spiritual support and guidance through life-cycle events. Our worship services offer the ability to share Jewish traditions, with very special community involvement at Simchat Torah with the unrolling of the Torah scroll, High Holy days services that are both clergy and lay-led with beautiful music to reach our souls, and our community Passover seder joining hundreds of members and the broader community. Our education program promotes life-long learning from toddlers through Nisayon (Religious School), progressing through B’nai Mitzvah into our youth groups and into adulthood with a wide variety of stimulating year-round adult education classes.
The community connects socially through a wide assortment of groups and auxiliaries. Members have established various interest groups centered around activities that bring fellow Jews together to enjoy culture, sports, and each other’s friendship. Congregants also reach out to the broader community in social action efforts of Tikkun Olam (to heal the world) – to make a difference in our larger community. Our auxiliaries (Sisterhood & B’nai Torah Youth) work together to further the connected nature of our families.
