The Boise Soul Food Festival’s mission is to celebrate and share the abundance of Black culture, food, and artistry in the Treasure Valley while building bridges for community connection and giving back to small businesses. We believe that it takes a village to build a better future for our community! And through cooperative economics (ujamaa), celebrating all families (umoja), and encouraging curiosity, creativity, and expression in our youth (kuumba), we are dedicated to providing an inclusive cultural experience that continues to invest in our Boise community year round.

The Soul Food Festival’s purpose is to celebrate and educate the greater Treasure Valley region about African-American culture in order to enhance and nurture racial understanding and harmony within the community. Our programs include an annual Soul Food Festival that showcases African-American inspired soul food, music, dancing, and businesses. The festival may include workshops or demonstrations to educate the public about African-American history, traditional dances and music, hair care, and/or current social justice issues.
