Living Voices: Within the Silence

May 17, 2025

Event organizer’s description:

In 1942 Roosevelt’s Executive Order 9066 imprisoned thousands of loyal American families. These innocent citizens struggled to maintain their families while incarcerated. Witness this silent chapter of our history and share in one Japanese American family’s fight to sustain faith and love in the country they love. Living Voices combines live theatrical performances with archival film, turning history into a moving personal journey. This performance will take place in the Joshua Green Foundation Theater on MOHAI’s second floor. Suitable for guests 10 years (4th grade) to adult.

Host organization:
By collecting and preserving artifacts and stories of the Puget Sound region’s diverse history, MOHAI highlights our tradition of innovation and imagination. Through compelling exhibits, scholarship, education, public programs, and community engagement, MOHAI bridges the past, present, and future.
