"Merciless Indian Savages": America 250 Through an Indigenous Lens

July 2, 2026
Community Focus

Event organizer’s description:

As the U.S. marks 250 years, ICT brings together Indigenous journalists, scholars and community leaders to examine this milestone through an Indigenous lens — confronting the founding era’s impact on Native nations, exploring tribal sovereignty and activism today, and envisioning a more truthful national narrative for the next 250 years. Join us July 2 for a conversation that reclaims narrative and elevates Indigenous voices.

Host organization:
Indian Country Today is an independent nonprofit, multimedia news enterprise. Our digital platform covers the Indigenous world, including American Indians and Alaska Natives. Indian Country Today is also a public media broadcast carried via public television stations, including FNX: First Nations Experience and Arizona PBS World channel.
