Honoring Day of Remembrance

Day of Remembrance, photos and video courtesy of Densho:

A huge thank you to Densho, a Seattle-based organization that works to preserve the story of the World War II incarceration of Japanese Americans in order to promote an examination of democracy and the importance of civic engagement. All photos and stories on slides 2-7 are courtesy of Densho’s Digital Repository.

You can find more information on Densho (and the Japanese American incarceration) in our community directory.

  • UPCOMING EVENT:The Past is Not Past: Japanese American WWII Incarceration and the Yonsei Generation,” a virtual event that features Dr. Donna Nagata, a psychology professor at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and others discussing the impacts of incarceration on the Yonsei generation. Dr. Nagata will talk about her findings and interpretations of a survey she conducted with nearly 500 Yonsei descendants of WWII incarceration where she asked them: “In what ways do you feel the incarceration has impacted your own life?”
