Multicultural

The Samuel E. Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center of the University of Washington is part of The Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity. The Kelly ECC has a wealth of resources and opportunities available to students including student advising, organizational development, personal growth, and referrals to different departments and programs.
Since 2004, the Folk & Traditional Arts Program has added to those memorable experiences with events in state parks by musicians, dancers, craftspeople and storytellers who represent a wide variety of old and new Washington traditions. From tribal canoe family journeys to Cinco de Mayo festivities, from fisher poetry to Ecuadorian song, from Hawaiian hula to old-time square dances, the program brings people together — some to celebrate a common heritage and some to learn about the traditions of others.
Mexico-USA collaboration of conservation organizations, youth, government, and restoration practitioners for watershed health and cultural awareness. Uniting youth, educators, habitat restoration practitioners, and the birding community for deep cultural connections and sustained conservation of our shared migratory species and habitats.
We believe we write our future with the stories we narrate, and we are committed to co-creating a more inclusive, connected, and just world. We envision a local community that honors, seeks out, and is shaped by the many histories, identities, and stories that reflect the people we are in this place.
