Recently through non-fiction writing works, plays, and screenplays, women at Hedgebrook have been a voice for helping raise awareness in a vast range of issues, including: women’s rights in the Middle East, the spread of AIDS in Africa, inner city violence in America, rights of incarcerated women prisoners, political strife in Cambodia, radioactive fallout in the Ukraine, highway construction dividing a Latino community, the ethical responsibilities of the pharmaceutical industry, and environmental stress on bees.
At Heritage, we believe that a college education should be accessible to anyone with the talent and drive to pursue a degree — regardless of economics, culture or geographic locations.
The Hillsboro Arts & Culture Council (HACC) is a citizen advisory committee appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the additional City Council members. Under the general direction of the City Council, the HACC oversees policies and programs pertaining to arts and culture for the City. It is housed in the Parks and Recreation Department and is administered by the City of Hillsboro’s Cultural Arts Program Manager. The mission of the Hillsboro Arts & Culture Council is to promote and support the growth of arts and culture as assets for a vital, prosperous, and livable community.
HSD was created by the Washington State Legislature in 2007 as the first community preservation and development authority in the state to respond to impacts from ongoing construction of major public facilities, public works, and capital projects in both neighborhoods. It is governed by a board of directors with representation from a broad range of stakeholders from both neighborhoods- business interests, residents, arts organizations, non-profits, history and culture and local government.
