The Seattle Chinese Post is a weekly Chinese-language newspaper based in Seattle, Washington’s International District. It was founded on 1982 by Assunta Ng, also founder of the Northwest Asian Weekly. It is the oldest Chinese-language newspaper in the Pacific Northwest since 1927. It has a circulation of approximately 10,000.
Seattle Chinese School (SCS) was founded in 1966. At the time, it was under the organization of the Seattle Chinese Women’s Club. The SCS trade name was registered with the Washington State Government in 1974. It was the earliest Chinese school established in the Seattle metropolitan area.
The Seattle-Christchurch Sister City Association was founded in 1981 by a group of volunteers seeking to improve the people-to-people connections between Seattle, USA, and Christchurch, New Zealand. The SCSCA builds a valuable international connection through a wide range of activities in Seattle, WA and Christchurch, NZ.
Seattle CityClub is a nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization improving the civic health of the Puget Sound region by providing programs that bridge politics, sectors and generations to inform and engage residents and community leaders.
This multi-media web site brings the vital history of Seattle’s civil rights movements to life with scores of video oral histories, hundreds of rare photographs, documents, movement histories, and personal biographies, more than 300 pages in all.
Education based television is the focus of SCCtv cable. Daytime cable programming on weekdays is often tied directly to the coursework of instructors at Seattle Community Colleges. SCCtv also airs and produces community focused programming and originates a number of regular program series including Remarkable People with Jean Walkenshaw, Professor Fred’s Movie Marvels and Centuries of Great Music with Orchestra Seattle. Many of these shows and more are archived and served on demand at www.scctv.net.
Seattle Dojo, the oldest Judo dojo in the United States, was established in the early 1900’s. The club moved several times until the present dojo was built in the 1930’s by first generation Japanese Americans.
