Community Directory

The purpose of the Boundary County Historical Society shall be to bring together persons interested in the history of Boundary County; to promote further interest in the heritage of this area; to gather information, objects, and materials relative to its history and development; and to carry on educational programs concerning this region. The Society will manage and operate any real or personal property in the form of a public museum.
Our heritage museum is located at the Fructova Heritage Site in rural Grand Forks. The Boundary Museum Society was established in 1958, and incorporated in 1980. From its inception, we have striven to preserve and promote the history of the Boundary area in an engaging, accessible manner that adds value to the local community. We currently operate a number of exhibits and sites throughout the Boundary region, including our main museum site at the Fructova Heritage Site, the Heritage Flour Mill, an outdoor exhibit in Gyro Park in downtown Grand Forks and a visual photo collection along with showcased artifacts at the Christina Lake Welcome Centre.
Kickin Celtic Music – For years, Seattle-based BOWI has been entertaining audiences with a blend of traditional Celtic music and unique energy. The BOWI sound encompasses a wide range of music including driving Jigs and Reels, exciting vocals, and beautiful ballads. An incredibly flexible and adaptive group, BOWI has performed at everything from Pubs and local faires, to private parties and weddings. Acoustic or “Plugged in”, BOWI has never failed to get the hands clapping and feet stomping. The band consists of: Tony Schuler (guitar, vocals), Rich Teachout (tenor banjo, whistle, octave mandolin, vocals), and Leah Cupps (bodhran, vocals).
BrasilFest was created in 1999 by Brazilian immigrants Eduardo and Ana Paula Mendonça with the mission to expose our community to Brazilian arts and traditions during the week of the Brazilian Folklore Day.
We work toward offering opportunities for artists, young musicians to developing cultural and educational experiences with our new space. Besides BrasilFest, we created Arts Globo, a new program providing intergenerational safe space with activities programed in Des Moines. We prioritizing services to minority, vulnerable and at-risk populations through arts, educational program and for individuals artists. As recent anti-racism and anti-oppression efforts, we increased our board reflecting more diversity reflecting female as 60% of leadership, and 99% of immigrants as board of directors and staff.
Brishchik is a non-profit organization. It is the oldest Bengali Drama Club of the Greater Seatle Area,operating for almost two decades now. It also publishes literary work at its FB page. See contact page.
