The Adams County Historical Society is a non-profit organization that was established in 1952 to celebrate the history of Adams County and its communities, protect the county’s artifacts, explain the history of Adams County as well as the towns and cities located within its boundaries and provide access to research assistance to genealogists and historians.
The Alaska Historical Society is a volunteer-based, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of Alaska history by the exchange of ideas and information, the preservation and interpretation of resources, and the education of Alaskans about their heritage. Governed by a 15-member board of directors, the Society provides a forum and a vehicle to achieve these goals. AHS is a membership organization with 480+ members.
From Petroglyphs to Pickleball, the stories of Bainbridge Island connect us as we celebrate the experiences of our diverse community. The Bainbridge Island Historical Museum is within the aboriginal territory of the suq̀ʷabš, “People of Clear Salt Water” (Suquamish People). Expert fishermen, canoe builders, and basket weavers, Suquamish people live in harmony with the lands and waterways along Washington’s Central Salish Sea as they have for thousands of years.
The Black Diamond Historical Society was formed by a small group, led by Carl and Ann Steiert, who decided to honor the nation’s bicentennial by preserving a little bit of America right at home. Many felt a strong concern for the disappearing buildings and artifacts in Black Diamond. Restoration of the depot began following the formation of the Historical Society in 1976. The museum opened in 1982.
