Beginning over 40 years ago as a lunch program for senior citizens, Ikoi no Kai has evolved into a program for the entire Nikkei community. The nourishing communal meal is the central activity of Ikoi no Kai with recreational and educational activities enhancing and enlivening the center’s spirit. We invite the participation of all age groups, adults and children alike. Ikoi no Kai offers not only Asian-themed meals but also provides a gathering place for the community to renew friendships as well as to make new friends. Ikoi no Kai is sponsored by the Japanese Ancestral Society, a 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to promote the cultural heritage and traditions of the Japanese American community through its multigenerational programs.
Japan Arts Connection Lab (JACLab) was born to provide a dynamic platform for Japanese artisans and master craftsmen to share their gifts, techniques, and passion for their craft with the rest of the world.
JCA has started by co-founder, Ringtaro Tateishi and Asako Tateishi: full time Japanese Taiko Performers. All programs are organized by Asako Tateishi as President/Executive Director, Ringtaro has created the art of Taiko as an Artistic Director, taking advantage of his unique experience – 10 years of experience as a former member of the world-famous Taiko group ONDEKOZA and performed every day at Walt Disney World / Epcot for 7 years. Asako also at Epcot as Disney’s international artist as member of Matsuriza.
Japan Fair is a free, two-day festival in Bellevue, WA across the lake from Seattle that celebrates Japanese art and culture. Formerly known as “Aki Matsuri”, Japan Fair is a communal endeavor of musicians, artisans, community organizations, and businesses from both Japan and the U.S. who come together to share their products, talents, and knowledge of Japan. Through live performances on stage, hands on exhibits, cultural workshops, and vendor booths, the public is immersed in the music, dance, artisanry, and philosophy of Japan.
