Pacific Islanders

The award-winning Latin music duo, Correo Aereo, play traditional multi-instrumental acoustics and vocals of music from Latin America, with a focus on music from Venezuela, Mexico, Argentina, Peru and Cuba. They incorporate original songs and arrangements into their performances that are deeply inspired by swimming and playing in the ancient rivers of traditions while being alive and open to organic innovation. Dr. Juan Tony Guzman, Head of the Jazz Dept. at Luther College writes: “Listening to their performance one can unite space and time across cultures.”
A state where Oregonians are able to access and engage in arts, culture, history, heritage, and humanities in their community without barriers; where students have equitable access to quality arts education throughout their academic careers; and arts and culture organizations are able to provide innovative, world-class programming that allows for the export of ideas, innovation, and creative work while contributing to Oregon’s economy and quality of life.
We are a community library and online bookstore with books focused on social justice, ethnic studies, and liberation movements. We invite everyone to use our library space as a community center; come cozy up with a book, learn about social justice, and connect with likeminded people. The space and books at our library are free to everyone and anyone.
Guahu si Gillian Dueñas and I tell my stories through visual art. By painting, weaving, carving, and jewelry making, I explore my identity as a mixed-race Indigenous Pacific Islander woman born and raised in the diaspora. My art is an act of reclamation, decolonization, and healing. I take inspiration from traditional motifs, legends, and jewelry and reimagine them in a modern context. Overall, I use my art to amplify my stories as well as the stories of my community.
