GLS is a well-established translation company with over 30 years of continuous experience in the German / English translation business. Founded in 1979, GLS has offices in Seattle, Washington and in Cologne, Germany. We provide translation and interpreting services for clients throughout the United States and Europe.

Happy Hans’ Music is proud to have been entertaining audiences of all ages throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond since 1976. Our unique blend of authentic “old-time” German/Austrian music mixed with popular “sing-along” classics have been a part of many special occasions.
Musikkapelle Leavenworth, the Bavarian Village town band, began in 1996 under the direction of Chris Shimer. The band performs at all major Leavenworth festivals and activities in addition to out-of-town appearances. It is typical of town bands of Bavaria.
The festival began in 2006 after Cyrus Khambatta, Executive Artistic Director for Khambatta Dance attended an Artistic Director Leadership training program with a grant from The Paul G. Allen Foundation and began to realize a long, stirring desire to connect audiences with dance through the festival environment. After a decade in which his own Khambatta Dance was invited to numerous international festivals, each with its own particular take on dance, he found the excitement and fervor with which audiences digested dance works to be a stimulating environment in which to create.
The annual Silverton Christmas Market aims to focus on its German heritage and gathers inspiration from authentic German Christmas Markets, with collectible mugs; traditional lebkuchen (gingerbread hearts) and gluhwein (mulled wine); artisan vendors; a booth selling imported handcrafted German nutcrackers, smokers and ornaments; and a light section dedicated to Krampus – the wicked German counterpart to St. Nicholas.
Our department concentrates on the artistic and intellectual traditions of German-speaking countries and offers training in critical reading, analytical writing, and the implications of language, literature, and other media as cultural phenomena. As one of the highest ranked programs in the country, we remain at the forefront of innovating language teaching. We offer undergraduate and advanced degrees for students at the University of Washington, as well as outreach events for the surrounding community.
