Spokane Hindu Temple & Cultural Center (SHTCC) previously known as Spokane Hindu Society (SHS) started as a special interest group in May 2016 to focus on the ultimate goal of Hindu temple and a community center in Spokane. Monthly gatherings were held every 4th Sunday with varied religious contents and focused kids activities to help the younger generation understand and relate to the roots of Hindu religion and culture through use of animation, painting, craft, clay modelling and Q&A session. Families signed up to host the monthly meet and sponsored the rental fee for the facility. Later during an auspicious occasion of Diwali Festival in November 2018, few community members came together to formalise the process and work towards creating a more established forum where educational, cultural and spiritual activities can be conducted year round bringing the community together- an opportunity to stay connected to the roots and facilitate community’s growth.
