Black American

We’re building a more equitable future for all Washingtonians through services and advocacy that enable people to live healthier, more prosperous lives. The vision that guides us is of a strong and vibrant community, where all people have access to the basic human needs and opportunities that support their health, well-being and prosperity and that enable them to attain their full potential. In short, equity for all.
Cierra Sisters was founded by Bridgette Hempstead shortly after her own diagnosis. It is a breast cancer survivor and support organization. The name is rooted in African origins; “Cierra” meaning “knowing”, reminding us that knowledge is in fact power.
Clean Greens is a community-based organization committed to teaching our community about Food and Social Justice, and growing fresh and organic produce so that our community has increased access to healthy eating.
Our mission is to activate, connect, and mobilize the largest racial equity community in tech to dismantle the structural barriers that prevent the full participation and leadership of Black and Latinx people in the innovation economy.
