Cypher Cafe is run by the WA not-for-profit Corporation, Black Power Unlimited, and manages the first floor of Washington Hall, spaces developed by The Hidmo Cypher, which includes the Lodge Room, Library, Cafe, Kitchen and Classroom.
I’m a singer-songwriter who has been playing and teaching piano for over three decades. I hold a degree in jazz piano, I’ve released three international albums, and I’ve performed on stages worldwide. I know a thing or two about what beginning piano students struggle with, and I also know that with the right mindset and the right strategy, anyone can learn to play jazz.
The current Douglass-Truth Branch was expanded and reopened Oct. 14, 2006. The building follows historic preservation guidelines of the original library, which is a city landmark. It has a grand staircase as well as the Soul Pole, a totem pole depicting African-American history given to the Library in 1972 by what was then called the Rotary Boys Club.
EDGE Outdoors is a Washington State non-profit that creates space for adventure, growth, and leadership for Black, Indigenous, Women of Color in snow sports.
