Extremely resilient, they survived the settling of the United States and adapted to a changed world. Lapwai, ID The Nimiipuu people have always resided and subsisted on lands that included the present-day Nez Perce Reservation in north-central Idaho. Today, the Nez Perce Tribe is a federally recognized tribal nation with more than 3,500 citizens.

Mikailah Thompson is a member of the Nimiipuu (Nez Perce) Tribe of Lapwai, ID. Thompson graduated from Lewis-Clark State College as of May 2020 with a degree in Business & Communication and minors in Nez Perce Language, Leadership, and Marketing. She currently resides in Alexandria, VA.
