EchoX includes a steadily growing searchable database of organizations, groups, writers, artists and others organized by ethnicity, cultural focus, type of heritage work and/or type of community action. Check back often to see newly added listings!

Want to add yourself or a group to the EchoX community listing?
Community resource listings will grow organically as you and others are added! If you’re involved with community work related to EchoX themes – ethnic cultural heritage and social action – click ‘Sign Up’ in the upper right corner and add your own page to the Directory for free!

After clicking ‘Sign Up’ you will be taken to a form to fill out to create your account. Once you open your account, you’ll have ongoing access to an EchoX backend template where you may provide any information you want others to see. You can also add your own events to the calendar with details and artwork.

French is spoken daily by an estimated 220 million native speakers worldwide and is an official language in 29 countries across five continents. Italian ranks sixth among all languages studied in the US, while French ranks second. Both languages open up many doors to students interested in international careers.

In autumn of 1994, the University of Washington Scandinavian Department, with support from the Center for Russian, East European and Central Asian Studies, began teaching the languages of the three Baltic States, Estonian, Latvian, and Lithuanian at multiple levels. Language instruction is at the core of the growing Program in Baltic Studies. This program is also developing in other areas. Estonian, Latvian, and Lithuanian materials are included in numerous courses. Prominent speakers on Baltic topics are regularly brought to the University for guest lectures and consultation with faculty and students. Outstanding students receive financial support for exchanges to Baltic universities.

In 1977 a group of students of Mexican ancestry who identified as Chicana/os in recognition of their unique social, cultural and political identities joined forces with a Chicano Art Professor, Rubén Trejo, to establish the Chicano Education Program. Since its creation, this program has served as an academic and community center for students and their families. Today, the Chicana/o/x Studies Program, as is known, provides services for students of all backgrounds: Chicanx, Indigenous, Hispanic, Latinx, immigrant, migrant, Caribbean, Central American, South American, non-Latinx, and beyond. Our program offers academic and non-academic support services both in English and Spanish, such as advising, peer mentorship, and tutoring opportunities, culturally relevant events, scholarship information, and a home away from home. We are all Afghans. Through the Afghan Student Association, we are all United. Afghan Student Association, (ASA) strives to bring together all the students dedicated to contribute efforts in expanding cultural and education awareness of our culture to Green River College and the surrounding community. The Afghan Student Association aims to provide resources to our fellow Afghan Gators through forming a community network in which we can help each other grow and learn through events and celebrations, tutoring, sharing resources, and becoming an academic and social support system. ASA also aims to collaborate with all association and NGO’s that promote humanitarian aid to Afghans. Our association welcomes both Afghans and non-Afghans who are committed to support and endorse our mission.

Ida L. Jackson brought the presence of Alpha Kappa Alpha to the American West Coast in 1921, chartering Rho Chapter at the University of California Berkley. On August 1, 1933, Beta Theta Chapter was chartered in Seattle, Washington at the Tacoma, Washington home of Sadie McIver. Beta Theta consisted of both undergraduate and graduate members.

By 1948, there were enough members in Beta Theta Chapter to form a second chapter, which would be named Delta Upsilon Omega – the first graduate chapter in Washington State.
