Servas provides opportunities for personal connections among people of diverse cultures toward the goal of promoting world peace, goodwill and understanding. Servas is a peacebuilding family with over 15,000 members in over 120 countries. We all united by the goal of breaking down cultural barriers and building peace. Through local community events, gatherings and projects, members of Servas are not just travelers and hosts but are the building blocks of an international movement begun in 1949 in post-war Europe. Inspired by the need to develop conflict resolution in order to rebuild after the war, a small team of Peacebuilders began an extraordinary experiment that has endured and thrived for 70 years.

Each member of Servas is vital to our success. Our board members define the vision for Servas. Servas travelers and hosts are the foundation of the organization’s outreach efforts. Our office members coordinate the projects into a cohesive message. Together we function as a united organization deeply engaged in furthering cultural understanding, promoting equality and fighting for social and justice.

Servas would like to thank you for taking the time to visit our site and learn more about this unique organization. We look forward to welcoming you into our family with open arms.

United States Servas is a non-profit, non-partisan membership organization designated as an official affilliate of the United Nations.
