Located within the Steilacoom territory were the first trading post, the first United States Army fort, the first church, and the first incorporated town north of the Columbia River. In 1854, the Tribe signed the Medicine Creek Treaty, the first treaty in western Washington.

Afghan Student Association, (ASA) strives to bring together all the students dedicated to contribute efforts in expanding cultural and education awareness of our culture to Green River College and the surrounding community. The Afghan Student Association aims to provide resources to our fellow Afghan Gators through forming a community network in which we can help each other grow and learn through events and celebrations, tutoring, sharing resources, and becoming an academic and social support system. ASA also aims to collaborate with all association and NGO’s that promote humanitarian aid to Afghans. Our association welcomes both Afghans and non-Afghans who are committed to support and endorse our mission.
