Dedicated to building intercultural understanding through collaboration, Abráce is named for the Spanish and Portuguese word for "embrace". Abráce sings in 20 languages and strives to represent the music they perform with integrity and respect for tradition, while also taking care to breathe life into each piece from their own diverse cultural and faith backgrounds. Ten years ago, two singers Samia Panni and Joyce Yarrow, discovered first-hand what it is like to collaborate across cultures and explore the power of music to celebrate diversity. Soon after, percussionists Denny Stern and Jeff Busch joined the group, along with vocalists Rebeqa Rivers, singer/actress Angie Bolton, and finally the versatile singer, musician and songwriter, Mikaela Romero.

As a non-profit organization, Artists' of the Okanogan (Aok), is working toward building a partnership between community, schools and the arts. Aok intends to bridge the gap between the arts and art education within the Okanogan County area. And it is our goal to bring all of that together so all may learn and share this vast knowledge. Identify and establish a home office where art can be displayed for all to enjoy, workshops and demonstrations can be held for learning purposes and art planning for community art events can be done.

As a former soldier who spoke very little about his time as a prisoner of war in the Korean War, William Jones' request to preserve the memory of his time as a Buffalo Soldier is something his family took to heart. Following his death in 2009, his daughter, Jackie Jones-Hook, began formalizing a museum in honor of the all-black regiment of the United States military. In 2012, the Buffalo Soldier Museum in Tacoma opened its doors as a haven for students and members of the community to learn about a piece of history that took place between 1866 and 1944 – and is all-too-often forgotten in the textbooks.

The museum is one of only two of its kind in the country dedicated to honoring the Buffalo Soldiers, the other being the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum in Houston. Formally called the 9th and 10th (Horse) Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers Museum, this nonprofit group educates the public through its vast collection of military artifacts, books, articles and DVDs from Jones' time in the military.
