Seattle, WA The festival began in 2006 after Cyrus Khambatta, Executive Artistic Director for Khambatta Dance attended an Artistic Director Leadership training program with a grant from The Paul G. Allen Foundation and began to realize a long, stirring desire to connect audiences with dance through the festival environment. After a decade in which his own Khambatta Dance was invited to numerous international festivals, each with its own particular take on dance, he found the excitement and fervor with which audiences digested dance works to be a stimulating environment in which to create.

Seattle , WA What the Funk?! An All POC Burlesque Tribute to Funk Music was conceived as a show idea in early 2018 after our founder. Mx. Pucks A’Plenty, thought about doing a classic burlesque number to a Stevie Wonder song, but realizing it wouldn't count as a classic era song choice. This got their wheels turning and What the Funk?! was born. On August 24, 2018 we kicked off two nights of two all POC casts at the historic Jewelbox Theatre in The Rendezvous in Seattle, Washington.
The first inaugural What the Funk?! An All POC Burlesque Festival took place in the Emerald City, aka Seattle, Washington on August 22-24, 2019. What the Funk?! is produced by Puckduction in association with The Stay Up late Show and Powered by Shunpike. Featuring over 40+ performers over the weekend, What the Funk?! hosted three shows and two days of classes.

Tacoma, WA As a former soldier who spoke very little about his time as a prisoner of war in the Korean War, William Jones' request to preserve the memory of his time as a Buffalo Soldier is something his family took to heart. Following his death in 2009, his daughter, Jackie Jones-Hook, began formalizing a museum in honor of the all-black regiment of the United States military. In 2012, the Buffalo Soldier Museum in Tacoma opened its doors as a haven for students and members of the community to learn about a piece of history that took place between 1866 and 1944 – and is all-too-often forgotten in the textbooks.
The museum is one of only two of its kind in the country dedicated to honoring the Buffalo Soldiers, the other being the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum in Houston. Formally called the 9th and 10th (Horse) Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers Museum, this nonprofit group educates the public through its vast collection of military artifacts, books, articles and DVDs from Jones' time in the military.
